Take It With A Grain Of Salt

Take It With A Grain Of Salt

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve last spoke, and during that time, I was busy working with one of my best friends, Alex, on a very important project – WE STARTED A YOUTUBE CHANNEL! This has been a plan of ours for several years, and we finally had the time, motivation, and dedication to bring it to fruition, so of course, I have been eager to get to share it with you!

I have been completely obsessed with YouTube for longer than I can remember. To me, it has become much more than just somewhere for the cyber universe to host viral videos, but rather, it has become a community for like-minded people to share their thoughts and ideas, while welcoming unlike-minded people to add their two cents without fear of judgment. It has become a place for me to discover some of my passions, goals, and idols. Most importantly, it has become a place that I want to be a part of long term, and with hard work, end game is for this to evolve from hobby, into full-time career.

As ridiculous and Millennial-minded the following statement may sound, it is truly how I feel. Alex and I talk a lot about where we see our futures going. We both studied Communication in college, and have essentially parallel views when it comes to our life goals– basically we feel we are not meant to spend our lives working mindless 9 to 5 jobs that we’re in strictly to pay the bills. We feel the need to grab life by the balls, take control of our futures, and be our own bosses. We’re not okay working jobs that leave us feeling “creatively unfulfilled,” and I put that in quotes because it’s term that we’ve been unconsciously throwing around a lot lately, and one that I hope to eliminate from my vocabulary in the near future. We want to start from the bottom and build up a business of our own, with our own two hands, and I know we have the passion and educations necessary to make it happen. We know it’s not going to be easy, but I don’t think that anything worth fighting for should be easy. It’s going to take a lot of long hours and hard work every single day, but bottom line, we love it, and it’s what we want to do.

In a 2014 speech to the United Nations about gender equality, Emma Watson said “If not me, who? If not now, when?” And while I know she’s not the first, or even most influential individual to say those words throughout history, to me, she was the most relatable, and my plan during this next phase of my life is just to constantly ask myself those questions, “If not me, who? If not now, when?” – and thus, our channel Grain Of Salt was born. So far, we have posted two videos, and filmed our third this weekend. Our plan is to have a video uploaded every Tuesday. Both of our lives have been so positively changed by the YouTube community, and we hope that someday, our channel can bring about positive change as well, but for now, we’re doing it because we love it, and it makes us happy, and for the time being, that’s enough for us.

Don’t worry; Grain Of Salt is not going to be taking the place of The Bee Wrd in my life. I’ll still be posting on here, just as often (or hopefully more often) as I have been, now you’ll just get a little more Lexie in your life every week! Please subscribe to our channel, and leave a comment on this post with some videos that you would like to see from us.

As always, thank you all for your unwavering love and support. This blog has brought so much joy to my life, and hearing from some of you that is has brought joy to yours is just… unbelievable. I love you guys!
